The presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) in the 2016 general\u00a0elections, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reiterated the need to revise the current voters\u2019 register.<\/p>\n
According to him, any attempt to defend\u00a0the registration of foreign nationals despite evidence submitted\u00a0should be discouraged.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”VfNMgfoWqXf7xyleF860lLOQBuv7of2J”]Nana Addo made these comments when some parliamentary candidates of the NPP paid a courtesy call on him at his residence on Thursday.<\/p>\n
“We don’t want a West African election, we want a Ghanaian election. We only want an election of Ghanaian people who are entitled to vote,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n
The NPP at a media briefing on Tuesday stated that about 80000 Togolese nationals<\/a><\/strong><\/span> have been registered in the voter\u2019s register.<\/p>\n According to them, these instances among others strengthen\u00a0their calls for a revision of the voter\u2019s register in the build up to the 2016 general elections.<\/p>\n Nana Addo further stated that the party will not rescind<\/a><\/span> in its quest to get the voters register revised,<\/p>\n “The NPP will continue to agitate peacefully, and advocate for a new voters’ register for 2016. At the end of the day, the Electoral Commission will have to look at our evidence, do what is right, and do what the people of Ghana are demanding,” he said.<\/p>\n
