The People’s National Convention (PNC) is angry with plans by the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) to field candidates in constituencies with incumbent PNC Members of Parliament.

[contextly_sidebar id=”blCh7TcOlHCCVFdmV5iMrZ97dWiR7Qzo”]The PNC argued that because of the alliance it has with the governing party, it’s MP must not be contested by NDC candidates.

The PNC MP for Builsa South, Alhassan Azong who served as Minister under the Mills government is set to face serious competition from Presidential staffer, Clement Apaak who has announced his interest to contest in the primaries.

The PNC however contends that the contest flies in the face of the healthy collaboration the two parties have enjoyed in the past.

The General Secretary of the PNC, Bernard Monah said he is disappointed by the actions of the NDC saying, “it appears that the NDC doesn’t recognise the collaboration that the PNC has had with them since the coming into force of the NDC in 2009.”

“They have consistently contested in constituencies where we have MPs and in some cases, they have snatched the seat from us and they continue to do so even when we are currently corroborating with them in Parliament and they want to contest our sitting MP. One would have thought that for the sake of mutual respect and understanding, the NDC would have behaved better than they are doing. We have revolted by what the NDC is doing but we are convinced that come what may, our candidate is a solid candidate and that he will win his constituency once again,” he added.
