Rather, the group has extended its ongoing strike by two weeks.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This decision was arrived at after 213 of the members voted for the extension of the strike\u00a0while 148 voted for the resumption of duty.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking on <strong>Eyewitness News<\/strong>, Honorable Ntim was of the opinion that the GMA\u2019s decision was largely influenced by the numerous appeals from the general public calling on them to rescind their decision on the strike.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The appeals also follow the impact the strike action has brought on the lives of innocent people.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The deputy ranking member who seemed not to agree with opinions suggesting that the GMA did not have the courage to resign in bloc hence their decision maintained that both parties engage in another round of negotiations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI am happy about that and it\u2019s an opportunity for government to sit down, reorganise itself and sharpen its negotiation and administration skills and sit down with the GMA, I believe that the GMA is willing to return to work and the government will have to soften its stance and the GMA should also try to understand the strength of the economy,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Pius Amihere Eduku\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Deputy Ranking Member of the Parliamentary Select Committee on health, Collins Ntim has welcomed the decision by the General Assembly of the Ghana Medical Association not to resign in bloc.
