{"id":143197,"date":"2015-08-13T19:00:02","date_gmt":"2015-08-13T19:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=143197"},"modified":"2015-08-13T19:00:02","modified_gmt":"2015-08-13T19:00:02","slug":"fda-closes-down-palm-oil-company","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/08\/fda-closes-down-palm-oil-company\/","title":{"rendered":"FDA closes down palm oil company"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has closed down the Miva Lifeline Limited, producers of Fovitor Dzomi Palm Oil.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This follows an alert by the Tower Hamlets Council of the United Kingdom that the palm oil which was exported from Ghana to the UK contains Sudan four Dye, a cancer causing material.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Investigations by the FDA has revealed that Miva Lifeline Limited has never applied to the FDA for an export permit and has also never been issued with a Certificate of Analysis by the FDA on Sudan Dye status for Fovitor Dzomi Palm Oil as required by the European Council.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Speaking to Citi News, Deputy Chief Executive, Food Safety Division at the FDA John Odame-Darkwah said the Authority is monitoring the local market to ensure it is not on sale.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cCurrently, we have locked up the place and we are investigating how they could export the products from Ghana to the UK.
