The Police in the Brong Ahafo region has cautioned the public to desist from linking the deadly shooting incident which occurred in the area to chieftaincy dispute.<\/p>\n

Five people were killed while six others sustained various degrees of injury in deadly clashes in Tuobodom<\/a><\/strong><\/span> on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”JPziqo4COK47zZQOwv5FSO40UylryltB”]Though what triggered the gunshots still remains sketchy some residents attribute it to a longstanding chieftaincy dispute in the area.<\/p>\n

The Techiman Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Emmanuel Twumasi Ankrah told Citi News<\/strong>\u00a0that though there \u201cmight be some flavor of chieftaincy in it [incident]\u201d he said \u201cas at now, I want people to dissociate that chieftaincy issue so we see it as a crime against some individuals.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chief Superintendent Twumasi Ankrah said calm has returned to the place but urged resident to help them with information to arrest the perpetrators.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe place is very calm, we have 50 Police personnel for the day and we have earmarked 30 with the support of the military in the night. We increased the number during the day because of the economic activities that go on here.”<\/p>\n

He said\u00a0the crime scene team from the regional Police CID has arrived in are\u00a0to assist with investigations<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n

“We have a crime scene team from the regional headquarters, so after their work then we will also carry on with whatever information we get from the people then we move from there. But as at now, there has not been any information that will help us to lay hands on those who actually carried out that activity,\u201d\u00a0Chief Superintendent Twumasi added.<\/p>\n
