The Ministry of Education has announced\u00a0it has received the all clear from the Finance Ministry on payment of book and research allowance for university teachers.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”8D8kePTx0o7wOSqcDL5FwwOVPBhh9Zbo”]University Teachers have been on strike<\/a><\/strong><\/span> over the non-payment of their book and research allowance.<\/p>\n

When the strike was declared about a week ago, the Education Ministry said it had already initiated moves<\/a><\/strong><\/span> to address their concerns.<\/p>\n

Speaking to Citi News<\/strong>, Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, Francis Gbadago called on UTAG to call off the strike, because the allowance will hit their accounts soon.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Ministry of Education has received approval from the Ministry of Finance that the book and research allowance for the 2014\/2015 academic year has been approved and so we have equally received the exchange rate from the Ministry of Finance.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said they have relayed the necessary documents regarding the payment to the National Council for tertiary education \u00a0\u201cand they are going to communicate this this to the tertiary institutions to submit their claims for payment by the Ministry of Finance.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat it means is that we have gone quite far, we have made significant progress in this particular regard and the Ministry of Education is calling on UTAG to call off the strike,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
