{"id":142799,"date":"2015-08-12T11:03:57","date_gmt":"2015-08-12T11:03:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=142799"},"modified":"2015-08-12T16:41:59","modified_gmt":"2015-08-12T16:41:59","slug":"mahama-endorses-stonebwoy-leaves-out-sarkodie-shatta-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/08\/mahama-endorses-stonebwoy-leaves-out-sarkodie-shatta-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Mahama endorses Stonebwoy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As busy as John Mahama is, as President of Ghana, he still manages to find some time to wind down\u00a0with some great hiplife music.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">His list of favourite hiplife artistes without any surprise featured the reigning Ghana Musical Awards artiste of the Year, Stonebwoy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He also won the Best International Act at the 2015 BET Awards recently.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The surprise though for many entertainment and industry watchers would be the President\u2019s exclusion of Sarkodie and Shatta Wale.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;BZ36tskunIgq8L7u3cSAWLDsqnkdUHWM&#8221;]The President while speaking on Uniiq FM to commemorate the World Youth day also mentioned VIP [now VVIP] and Wuta as his other favourite hiplife artistes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The President also revealed he loves other genre of Ghanaian music and some of his favourite musicians include Shasha Marley, Gyadu Blay Ambuley but his all-time favourite is Kojo Antwi.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I like a lot of the old artistes, of course Kojo Antwi continues to be my favourite. I like Gyedu Blay-Ambolley, KK Kabobo. I like the young ones too, I listen to some of the old young ones like Shasha Marley, Wutah, VIP. But recently I listened to Stonebwoy, I think he&#8217;s got a good hit with Sheekena and Baafira, that\u2019s also a good one. I like Ghanaian music so I listen to most our artistes,&#8221; said president Mahama.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He however fell short of mentioning popular and controversial artistes Sarkodie and Shatta Wale who have won the hearts of many Ghanaians with their songs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sarkodie has also won several awards both locally and on the international stage.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/mahama-with-headset.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-142787 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/mahama-with-headset.jpg\" alt=\"mahama with headset\" width=\"495\" height=\"330\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/mahama-with-headset.jpg 495w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/mahama-with-headset-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 495px) 100vw, 495px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He has recently released some songs including &#8220;The masses,&#8221; &#8220;Inflation,&#8221; and &#8220;Dumsor&#8221; chastising the government on worsening economic situation among others.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Commenting on his favourite movies, President Mahama said; \u201cI love Shirley Frimpong-Manso&#8217;s movies, Lil Win, Agya Koo\u201d among others.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said usually when he travels, he takes some of these movies along to enjoy while on his trips.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I like some of the movies by Shirley Frimpong Manso; she is an exceptional producer. Some of her movies are wonderful. I\u2019ve watched Perfect Picture and the series Devil in the detail. I also like the Kejetia Hollywood and I like Lilwin, he is funny. I like Agya Koo. If you looked at some of the early movies, they looked amateurish but they are beginning to get their acts together. We have some serious actors there: Bernard Nyarko, Emelia Brobbey and others, Kyewaa will always make you laugh.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With the other urban movies, people like Jackie Appiah are doing very well. I like John Dumelo, I like it when he is acting. When I travel, I try to take some Ghanaian movie CDs so we don\u2019t watch any foreign CDs on the presidential jet.\u00a0We carry a pack along. Sometimes you have to fly for 7-8 hours and you can\u2019t just sit doing nothing so we put Ghanaian movies and then we watch,&#8221; president Mahama added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Godwin A.
