Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, has downplayed as ignorant calls for the party to first put together a manifesto before constituting a campaign team for the 2016 elections.

[contextly_sidebar id=”MBhgtWec7XfU5wBLSQIvHL2H0x6XDsvk”]A raging debate over the matter started in the NPP, after party chairman Paul Afoko reportedly suggested that it will be more prudent for the party to have a manifesto before thinking about a campaign team since the team will be expected to trumpet the message in the manifesto.

But speaking on Point Blank on Eyewitness News, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie also known as Sir John stated categorically that the suggestion from the party chairman and any other quarters is alien to the party and should be disregarded.

“No political party worth this sort would have a manifesto before a campaign team is named. Not in the UK and not even in the NDC who don’t even know what they are doing, let alone the New Patriotic Party and we are not going to depart from that,” he said.

Sir John said, to him, “those who are saying that we should have a manifesto before this, should go and think again. I thought that it was some NDC people who were trying to be mischievous who were telling us to do that but we will not do it that way.”
