The President of policy think tank, IMANI Ghana, Franklin Cudjoe is asking government to decentralize the hiring and payment of doctors and other public servants across the country.<\/p>\n

Government doctors, pharmacists and university teachers are currently on strike for varying reasons.<\/p>\n
The doctors are threatening to resign en block on August 29 if government does not work on their conditions of service document.<\/p>\n
Speaking on Citi FM’s news analysis program, Bi Issue , Franklin Cudjoe asked \u00a0doctors to insist on the decentralized process describing it as an antidote to the strikes.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want you to be part of the idea of devolution and give power to districts, municipalities so that they can employ us directly, stop the practice where I have to make sure I submit my documents to you and come and line up at the Controller and Accountant-General\u2019s Department to take my 11 month salaries\u2026It\u2019s not progressive, it\u2019s not scientific,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
