Two Ghanaians have been listed in the 2015 Financial Times list of \u201825 Africans to Watch\u2019: Nicole Amarteifio, creator of the hit web series ‘An African City’, with her quest to produce content that serves as \u201cthe polar opposite of the omnipresent single story of Africa\u201d and Fred Swaniker, founder of the the African Leadership Academy, in his desire \u201cto foster a new breed of African leader.\u201d<\/p>\n
The FT\u2019s Africa team picked the African continent\u2019s rising stars, from activists to politicians to footballers.<\/p>\n
For novice TV producer and director Nicole Amarteifio, with a show dubbed by many as the African version of Sex and the City, the FT writes that her vision is \u201cmore than just a showcase of African fashion, the series also provides smart commentary on \u201creaspora\u201d \u2014 the growing trend of Afropolitans in the diaspora moving back to the continent.\u201d<\/p>\n

For Ghanaian educator Fred Swaniker, the FT writes: “Energetic and bursting with optimism about Africa, Swaniker typifies a new generation of African entrepreneur and business networker.”<\/p>\n
Over the years, Swaniker has also founded the African Leadership University and the African Leadership Network.<\/p>\n
Like Amarteifio, other TV\/Film influencers on the list are Trevor Noah, the South African comedian set to succeed Jon Stewart in the highly successful US satirical news program ‘The Daily Show’ and Chika Anadu of Nigeria, for her first feature film ‘B for Boy’. ‘B For Boy’ is a contemporary drama set in Nigeria, explores the discrimination of women in the names of culture and religion as one woman desperately desires a male child.<\/p>\n
