{"id":140934,"date":"2015-08-06T06:00:38","date_gmt":"2015-08-06T06:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=140934"},"modified":"2015-08-06T06:02:00","modified_gmt":"2015-08-06T06:02:00","slug":"mce-lauds-tigo-over-shelter-4-education-initiative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/08\/mce-lauds-tigo-over-shelter-4-education-initiative\/","title":{"rendered":"MCE lauds Tigo over Shelter 4 Education initiative"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Saint Joseph R\/C Primary School for Children with Special needs in Ghana\u2019s foremost mining town, Obuasi, are the latest beneficiaries of Tigo Ghana\u2019s Shelter 4 Education initiative.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The telecommunication company pulled down their old dilapidated building and replaced it with a brand new fully furnished 4 Classroom block with an office for the Headmistress, a pantry and toilet facilities for the children.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/classroom-block-3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" size-full wp-image-140937 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/classroom-block-3.jpg\" alt=\"classroom block (3)\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/classroom-block-3.jpg 600w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/classroom-block-3-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At an inaugural ceremony to hand over the new building to the school, the Municipal Chief Executive Officer for the Obuasi Municipal Assembly, Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, paid a glowing tribute to Tigo Ghana for coming to the aid of the children who need special care.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cTigo\u2019s Shelter 4 Education project has come to enhance the quality of teaching and learning in this municipality and I am forever grateful for the support. For the past 3 years, the number of children with special needs in this school has been declining due to the run-down structure. It is the only special school in this municipality, and yet we were unable to offer any support or comfort to the children. By pulling down the old structure and putting up a much bigger and safer school, Tigo Ghana Limited has not only changed the fortunes of the children but the entire municipality\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The headmistress of St Joseph R\/C Primary School for Special Needs Children, Mrs Christiana Adei, thanked Tigo for the edifice and promised to take good care of it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Gifty Bingley who heads Tigo Ghana\u2019s Corporate Communications and CSR department in her remarks reiterated Tigo\u2019s commitment to caring for the communities within which they operate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She emphasized the educational investments will benefit both the pupils, their families and the communities at large. \u201cAs the level of education increases, so does the chance to get and keep a job, have a healthy life and support a family\u201d, she explained.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/classroom-block-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" size-full wp-image-140935 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/classroom-block-1.jpg\" alt=\"classroom block (1)\" width=\"692\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/classroom-block-1.jpg 692w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/classroom-block-1-300x173.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 692px) 100vw, 692px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Shelter 4 Education is Tigo\u2019s new CSR initiative &#8211; the company is putting up six unit classrooms with headmaster\u2019s office, staff common room and toilet facilities for some selected schools in makeshift structures across Ghana.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The entire construction has been documented as a television series.
