{"id":140384,"date":"2015-08-04T08:35:20","date_gmt":"2015-08-04T08:35:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=140384"},"modified":"2015-08-04T08:35:20","modified_gmt":"2015-08-04T08:35:20","slug":"drag-doctors-to-the-labour-commission-labour-analyst-to-govt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/08\/drag-doctors-to-the-labour-commission-labour-analyst-to-govt\/","title":{"rendered":"Drag doctors to the Labour Commission \u2013 Labour analyst to Gov\u2019t"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A labour analyst, Austin Gamey wants government to drag the striking doctors to the National Labour Commission (NLC) after several attempts to make them return to work failed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This comes on the back of government&#8217;s call on the doctors to suspend their strike and continue with negotiations on their demands.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The doctors are demanding the provision of a document of their conditions of service.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;CMb25g6TDh208nTWO4XyWrv3Wgmvz2Ni&#8221;]In an interview with <strong>Citi News<\/strong>, Austin Gamey maintains that reporting the doctors to the NLC is the only way to resolve the current impasse because the doctors are bent on breaking the law to achieve their goals.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI don\u2019t know what is wrong with the employer. The employer should have gone to the National Labour Commission and report the conduct of the GMA as a union saying we \u00a0are going to begin negotiation, already they are holding call on my head that if I don\u2019t agree to negotiate and complete the negotiation on their term then we will declare a strike which they have now started and therefore the way they are going about is it is out of place,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In a related development, government has called on the doctors to call off their <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/08\/03\/call-off-the-illegal-strike-now-govt-to-doctors\/\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cillegal strike.\u201d<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A statement signed by the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Haruna Iddrisu stated that government has been negotiating with the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) hence it was wrong for them to continue to be on strike while negotiations were ongoing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cGovernment is of the view that while these processes are on-going, it is unfair and against the rules of labour practice for the GMA to declare a partial strike by withdrawing all outpatient services.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u201cThis amounts to coercion and an attempt to compel government to negotiate under duress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe current withdrawal of services is illegal and Government calls on the GMA to call of the partial strike with immediate effect,\u201d said Haruna Iddrisu.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Godwin A.
