{"id":140315,"date":"2015-08-03T18:33:27","date_gmt":"2015-08-03T18:33:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=140315"},"modified":"2015-08-03T19:13:28","modified_gmt":"2015-08-03T19:13:28","slug":"klottey-korle-elections-was-not-rushed-kwabena-agyepong","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/08\/klottey-korle-elections-was-not-rushed-kwabena-agyepong\/","title":{"rendered":"Klottey Korle elections was not rushed &#8211; Kwabena Agyepong"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kwabena Agyepong has dismissed claims that he rushed party&#8217;s parliamentary primaries in the Klottey Korle constituency.<\/p>\n<p>Valentino Nii Noi Nortey was voted the party&#8217;s representative for the constituency elections in 2016 by delegates of the NPP on Saturday, three days after an application for an injunction on the polls was dismissed by a Fast-track High Court.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;gUlJSD6kQtq1fQKyR3SmG5ppKbQlsBxG&#8221;]Two of the aspirants alleged that the process was rushed but Agyepong denied the claims, arguing that the polls had been delayed so many times it was imperative to hold the election once the case had been dismissed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;<\/strong>Everything was ready, the ballot papers printed and the statement of poll had been out in those constituencies, everything was set for July 25<sup>th<\/sup>. Except that the NPP members took the case to court. As soon as the court decided on the matter \u00a0and dismissed those applications we were then at liberty to go ahead,&#8221; Kwabena Agyepong told <strong>Citi News.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>NPP&#8217;s General Secretary insisted\u00a0that the decision to hold the elections on Sunday was backed by the regional and constituency executives of the party.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;<\/strong>I had meeting in my office with the acting regional chairman of Greater Accra and the respective constituency chairpersons \u00a0They were eager to go because tensions were brewing and they even wanted Saturday. But I told them we needed to add another 24 hours to give everybody time to adjust,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-139871\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/AlP6uIPULTeAFxgIcRRoETHAJ9AgQavP9iueQ8nO5BaZ.jpg\" alt=\"AlP6uIPULTeAFxgIcRRoETHAJ9AgQavP9iueQ8nO5BaZ\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/AlP6uIPULTeAFxgIcRRoETHAJ9AgQavP9iueQ8nO5BaZ.jpg 620w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/AlP6uIPULTeAFxgIcRRoETHAJ9AgQavP9iueQ8nO5BaZ-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I\u2019m surprised that some people are saying that we rushed the primary. This is a primary that was supposed to be held on the 13<sup>th<\/sup> of June, moved to 25<sup>th<\/sup> of june and the July 25 and now August 2.
