{"id":140164,"date":"2015-08-03T12:41:52","date_gmt":"2015-08-03T12:41:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=140164"},"modified":"2015-08-03T12:41:52","modified_gmt":"2015-08-03T12:41:52","slug":"public-sector-pharmacists-meet-over-impending-strike","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/08\/public-sector-pharmacists-meet-over-impending-strike\/","title":{"rendered":"Public sector pharmacists meet over impending strike"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The national council of the Government and Hospital Pharmacists Association (GHOSPA) is currently meeting to take a decision on their intended strike following an intervention by <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/07\/31\/chief-of-staff-to-meet-pharmacists-today-over-impending-strike\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Chief of Staff, Julius De<\/strong>brah<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;TPpTUr3EMZ7sBKfmltlbu7IcuEO3pi7T&#8221;]The Chief of Staff met the pharmacists on Friday in a last minute effort to persuade them against the strike which was scheduled to commence today.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Following the meeting, leadership of GHOSPA is briefing the national council \u00a0to decide whether to proceed with the planned strike.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Chairperson of the group, Stephen Corquaye has told <strong>Citi News<\/strong>\u00a0the way forward will be determined and announced to members after today\u2019s meeting.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A strike by the pharmacists will compound the problems of the health sector which is already reeling from the effects of a strike by medical doctors.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Pharmacists have served notice of a nationwide strike over what they say are discrepancies on their placement on the Single Spine Salary Structure.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIt is regrettable that since 8th August 2014 when the Chief of Staff directed the Ministry of Finance to implement the road map for resolving the salary grievances of pharmacists in the public sector, following a Sub Cabinet Committee report.
