The Health Ministry has instructed all heads of public health facilities to be at post to work with non-striking staff available during the period of the strike by the Ghana Medical Association.<\/p>\n
This was contained in a strategy statement aimed at reducing the impact of the doctors strike.<\/p>\n

The Ministry has also directed all ambulance services to remain on standby for emergency services.<\/p>\n
Visit private hospitals \u2013 NHIA tells clients<\/strong><\/p>\n In a related development, the National Health insurance authority (NHIA) is urging all NHIS subscribers to visit the \u00a0over 1,000 accredited private and faith based hospitals<\/a><\/strong> <\/span>across the county instead of public health facilities, following the doctor\u2019s strike.<\/p>\n \u201cNHIS cards are not only eligible in government establishments but can be used in the over 1,000 NHIS-credentialed private and faith-based healthcare facilities,\u201d a statement signed by the Communications Manager of the NHIS, Selorm Adonoo stated.<\/p>\n The statement further noted that cardholders can access healthcare \u201cat the 37 Military and Police Hospitals in Accra and the many Health Centres and Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds across the country.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThis arrangement is to ensure that subscribers of the NHIS continue to access healthcare services while the Ghana Medical Association (GMA)\u2019s negotiations with government and strike persist,\u201d the stated added.<\/p>\n
