{"id":140028,"date":"2015-08-03T06:18:21","date_gmt":"2015-08-03T06:18:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=140028"},"modified":"2015-08-03T06:41:49","modified_gmt":"2015-08-03T06:41:49","slug":"doctors-strike-visit-private-hospitals-nhia-tells-patients","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/08\/doctors-strike-visit-private-hospitals-nhia-tells-patients\/","title":{"rendered":"Doctors\u2019 strike: Visit private hospitals &#8211; NHIA tells patients"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Following the strike by medical doctors in the public hospitals, the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has entreated all NHIS cardholders who may be turned away from public health facilities to visit any of the private and faith-based hospitals and clinics accredited by the authority to access healthcare.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;81LkU0k7gGearBZMjC7qxv1oDhvgN2S4&#8243;]Doctors in the public sector laid down their tools on July 30, to demand that government provides them with a document containing their conditions of service.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The management of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital as well as several other government health facilities have closed their out-patient departments because of the strike.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cNHIS cards are not only eligible in government establishments but can be used in the over 1,000 NHIS-credentialed private and faith-based healthcare facilities,\u201d a statement signed by the Communications Manager of the NHIS, Selorm Adonoo stated.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The statement further noted that cardholders can access healthcare \u201cat the 37 Military and Police Hospitals in Accra and the many Health Centres and Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds across the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThis arrangement is to ensure that subscribers of the NHIS continue to access healthcare services while the Ghana Medical Association (GMA)\u2019s negotiations with government and strike persist,\u201d the stated added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Godwin A.
