Professor Mawutor Avoke has been appointed as\u00a0Vice Chancellor \u00a0for the University of Education, Winneba.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”I2OyAkG5QppjKoVdvkhYRacYLjnoXgUm”]A statement from the management of the University stated that, the appointment was made \u201cat a special meeting of the Governing Coucil of the University of Education, Winneba, held on July 30, 2015.\u201d<\/p>\n
It added that his tenure takes \u00a0\u201ceffect from October 1, 2015.\u201d<\/p>\n
Professor Avoke takes over from Professor Akwasi Asabere Ameyaw whose tenure of office ends on September 30, 2015.<\/p>\n
The Council further appointed Mr. Viscount Buernortey Buer as the new University Librarian with effect from October 1, 2015.<\/p>\n
Prof. Avoke has served two terms as Pro-Vice Chancellor for the University.<\/p>\n
He joined the department of Special Education as an assistant lecturer in 1992\/93 academic year and rose through the ranks to become an Associate Professor at the age of 39 and a Full Professor at 42.<\/p>\n
Among the positions he has held in the University of Education are a former Director of the National Centre for Research into Basic Education, Dean of the Faculty of Education, Head of Department of Special Education, Chairman of Convocation and a Commonwealth Scholar.<\/p>\n
