The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has donated equipment worth US$ 137,500 to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) under the Technical Cooperation Project for Electrical Engineers Training for African Countries.<\/p>\n
This equipment includes a portable cable fault locator, an oil tester, a primary current injection test set, a secondary injection test set and a portable power quality analyzer.<\/p>\n
According to a press statement, the Chief Representative of JICA, Mr. Koji Makino called the training project: “Technical cooperation on electrical engineers training for African countries.”<\/p>\n
He also revealed that the Government of Ghana has been emphasizing on the universal access of electricity to achieve equitable and inclusive economic development of Ghana as well as on the construction of distribution facility and the maintenance of the facility.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn this regard, every year, ECG employs engineers and technicians and provides the mandatory trainings to effectively maintain ECG facilities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cJapanese experts will be deployed to support ECG Training center for updating the training curriculum, renewing training equipment and brushing up of trainer’s capacity,\u201d he added, \u201cAnd through those activities, we aim to enhance the quality of training and professionalism on the job.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Managing Director of ECG, Mr. Robert Dwamena said the charitable gesture by JICA will reinforce the bond of friendship between the Government of Japan and Ghana.<\/p>\n
He also promised that the ECG will make the most of the equipment to improve teaching and learning at the Training centre.<\/p>\n
