{"id":139187,"date":"2015-07-30T12:28:23","date_gmt":"2015-07-30T12:28:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=139187"},"modified":"2015-07-30T13:26:43","modified_gmt":"2015-07-30T13:26:43","slug":"educational-curriculum-must-include-ict-modules-veep","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/07\/educational-curriculum-must-include-ict-modules-veep\/","title":{"rendered":"Educational Curriculum must include ICT modules &#8211; Veep"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Kwesi Amissah Arthur has reiterated the need to review Ghana`s educational curriculum to include Information Communication and Technology (ICT) modules to produce skilled personnel for the emerging ICT sector.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At the opening ceremony of the Africa Mobile and ICT Expo 2015 in Accra on Thursday, Mr. Arthur explained that Ghana\u2019s emerging economy will need personnel with the requisite ICT skills to manage the various sectors of the economy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cCrucially, we must ensure that our education system provides our students with the skills for matching the pace of development in order to make them relevant for the job market and the many opportunities in the IT sector,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He reiterated the importance of the mobile phone and held that since its progress could not be halted, it needs to be embraced.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/mobex-2015-5.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" size-full wp-image-138934 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/mobex-2015-5.jpg\" alt=\"mobex 2015 (5)\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/mobex-2015-5.jpg 600w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/mobex-2015-5-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe mobile device has come to stay. It will continue to transform our lives in many ways \u2013 politically, socially, economically, culturally and even in our religions,\u201d he added, \u201cSince we cannot halt its progress, we just need to embrace it and exploit the benefits it provides to enable us to keep up with the pace of development of our competitors in the global race.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He also advised that mobile phones assumed the character of their owners because these devices do not have their own characters, therefore, they should be used in a way that will make a positive impact.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIt is important to emphasize that mobile devices also assume the character of their owners or the character of their uses. It does not have a character of its own and can either be used to build or destroy and there are many ways in which can be used,\u201d he explained, \u201cTherefore, we need to resolve to use the mobile devices in some ways that promote human development, peaceful coexistence among ourselves and to deliver the shared economic prosperity for all our people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He also advised Software Developers and consumers to use ICT to impact Ghana positively.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Selassie A.
