An Interior Decorator, who was accused of defiling a six-year-old girl, was on Wednesday sentenced to 20 years imprisonment by an Accra Circuit Court.<\/p>\n
Emmanuel Adjei was found guilty on the charge of defilement by the Court presided over by Mrs Rita Agyemang Budu.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”HligazVctsjDkGWtqLUYfGvp3aB6hTv2″]Prosecuting Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sarah Acquah told the Court that the complainant, the victim\u2019s mother, is a hair dresser residing at La Adjeman in Accra.<\/p>\n
The complainant, victim and the convict lived in the same house at La Adjeman.<\/p>\n
According to the Prosecutor, for the past seven months, the victim\u2019s father had been unwell and as such, the complainant had to leave the victim in the house on weekends to enable her cater for her father.<\/p>\n
DSP Acquah said on February 7 and February 14, the victim refused to stay in the house and when the complainant questioned her, she the convict had on two occasions defiled her.<\/p>\n
According to prosecution, the victim said Adjei also warned her not to tell anyone else he would beat her.<\/p>\n
The Complainant subsequently reported the matter to the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit and a medical form was issued to the victim.<\/p>\n
Later, Adjei was arrested by the Police and in his caution statement he denied the offence.
