{"id":138910,"date":"2015-07-29T15:49:17","date_gmt":"2015-07-29T15:49:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=138910"},"modified":"2015-07-29T15:49:17","modified_gmt":"2015-07-29T15:49:17","slug":"peak-milk-organizes-health-talk-and-donation-for-kayeyei","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/07\/peak-milk-organizes-health-talk-and-donation-for-kayeyei\/","title":{"rendered":"Peak milk organizes health talk and donation for kayeyei"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FrieslandCampina West Africa Limited, owners of the Peak Milk brand in Ghana, has organized a health talk for head potters, popularly known as Kayayei, at the Children\u2019s Park in Accra, in line with its commitment to promoting good nutrition among Ghanaians.<\/p>\n<p>The event which was attended by the Mrs. Comfort Asare, Director of Social Welfare, representing Nana Oye Lithur, the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, and some key functionaries of the Department of Children; witnessed the registration of approximately 500 head potters on the National Health Insurance Scheme.<\/p>\n<p>The event also saw some donation and health talk to the various Kayayei groups present.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/81.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-138912\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/81.jpg\" alt=\"8\" width=\"750\" height=\"500\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/81.jpg 750w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/07\/81-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the event, Mr. Adewale Adeola, Regional Commercial Manager,\u00a0 FrieslandCampina West Africa Limited, reaffirmed the company\u2019s commitment to promoting good nutrition among Ghanaians stressing that: \u2018\u2018we offer Ghanaians a product that provides building materials and fuels for good nutrition in the form of proteins, vitamins \u00a0and minerals .\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Justifying the choice of the Kayayei group for the gesture, he indicated that company\u2019s choice was largely informed by their awareness of the plights and susceptibility of the head potters.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018\u2018As a community-oriented and socially-responsible brand, we have taken notice, with concern, the hassle and difficulties of these head potters. We are aware that the nature of their job makes them susceptible to many health problems, reason for this gesture\u2019\u2019 he noted.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on behalf of \u00a0Nana Oye Lithur, Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, the Director of Social Welfare, Mrs. Comfort Asare outlined a number of interventions the government is putting in place to ameliorate the plights of the head potters in the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018\u2018Our goal, in the long term, is to ensure that the Kayayei phenomenon reduces to its minimal level,\u2019\u2019 she added.<\/p>\n<p>While lauding Peak milk\u2019s initiative, she called on the corporate community to emulate the gesture, stating, \u2018\u2018Social Protection can be achieved through the concerted efforts of key stakeholder groups, especially the corporate community.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Abiba Alhassan, a beneficiary of the Programme was full of praise to Peak milk for the gesture.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018\u2018I am particularly happy with the health talk.
