The Nanumba North District Assembly is to ensure that Butchers willing to have access to the local abattoir will sign a bond of good behavior.<\/p>\n
This follows government’s directive that all butchers operating in the Bimbila Abattoir should be subservient to the Regent there.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”KwsaoAoOvRlpowoDiFQTwekK2cmyASJN”]Recent deadly clashes in Bimbila were reportedly triggered by some butchers disregard to the Regent of Bimbila, Yelinbolingu Naa Abdulai Andani\u2019s demand for his portion of meat from the Abattoir on daily basis.<\/p>\n
According to a police report, three of the said disobedient butchers were banned from the abattoir.<\/p>\n
A misunderstanding between the butchers and the Regent\u2019s emissaries exploded into carnage which resulted in the death of 19 people.<\/p>\n
At a media briefing in Bimbila on Tuesday after interactions with the factions including the Bimbila Regent, Deputy Interior Minister, James Agalga told the Butchers to obey laid down customary practices.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Regent of Bimbila of course his late father was proclaimed as the legitimate chief of Bimbila not by government but by a court of competent of jurisdiction and so as a government that is the decision we will follow and implement.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said government will not countenance any unruly behavior breach which will endanger human security in the Nanun Traditional Area.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe directive is simple: all those who intend to continue to have access to the Abattoir will be law abiding to the extent that they must recognize the Regent of Bimbila.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe directive also directs the DCE who is the Chairman of DISEC to take steps to ensure that all Butchers who intend to have access or to use the Abattoir will be bonded to be of good behavior and good behavior within this context means that they must learn to respect the laws of our land including judgments delivered by our law courts,\u201d \u00a0Agalga stressed.<\/p>\n
Some residents of Bimbila appealed to government to relax the curfew hours from 4pm to 6am.<\/p>\n
Later at the inspection of guard of honour, both the Deputy Interior Minister and Chairman of the Northern Regional Security Council (RECSEC), Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna commended security operatives on the ground for maintaining law there.<\/p>\n
They tasked them to be neutral and exhibit the highest sense of professionalism during their patrols.<\/p>\n
