A Security Analyst with the Kofi Annan International Peace Keeping Training Center, Dr. Kwesi Aning is cautioning government against gloating over the incarceration of the gunman who wanted to kill the president.

He insisted that government must dig deeper to establish possible collaborators.

Charles Antwi was sentenced to 10 years in prison on Tuesday, 48 hours after his arrest in President Mahama’s church.

[contextly_sidebar id=”cL8ouH7CH4KiMm0ji3sHJpWpTYvWslpU”]He had told the court that, he was directed to the president’s church by a military personnel at the Osu Castle.

Charles Antwi added that he had acquired the gun from a Burkina Faso national at Nkoranza in the Brong Ahafo Region.

Speaking in an interview with Citi News Dr. Aning maintained that there are fundamental questions about the origin of the gun that needs to be answered to ensure that he had no accomplices, hence his caution.

“The man has now been jailed but I think this is the time for us to go back to the drawing board and ask the more fundamental questions; the gun was unregistered, where did it come from, who gave it to him…there are lots of questions that will lead to the answer. And there are lots of leads that we need to follow in order to ascertain the truth.”
