The gunman who attempted\u00a0to assassinate the President last Sunday has said he wanted to do so in the best interest of the nation.<\/p>\n

According Charles Antwi, he wanted to save Ghana\u00a0from the bad governance of\u00a0the Mahama-led administration.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”X4IMQkVBIufRFBw07SbPfNZa1uyHTZtd”]The suspect, Charles Antwi told the court that\u00a0killing the President was his way of fighting for the nation.<\/p>\n

He also told the Court that after the death of President Atta Mills in 2012, he, Antwi should have been sworn in as President.<\/p>\n

Antwi was last Sunday arrested<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>at the\u00a0Ringway Assemblies of God Church in Accra; the church where the President, his family and the Chief Justice, Georgina Woode worship.<\/p>\n

The President and his family were not in church last Sunday but security operatives escorted\u00a0Antwi the “fidgety” and “suspicious” looking Antwi out before the found the gun on him.<\/p>\n

He has since been sentenced to 10 years in jail.<\/p>\n
