Michael Kors, who was recently named a United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) Global Ambassador Against Hunger for his ongoing efforts in philanthropy, has announced that actress Kate Hudson will be joining him on his mission to feed hungry children.<\/p>\n
The two longtime friends, who attended the 2015 Met Gala together and once physically collided in an airport, are pairing up in support of Watch Hunger Stop, a charitable campaign launched by Kors in 2013 in partnership with\u00a0the WFP: Each time someone purchases one of the designer\u2019s\u00a0100 Series watches, 100 needy children receive a healthy meal from\u00a0WFP\u2019s School Meals Program.<\/p>\n
In 2014, Kors also pledged to donate 100 more meals each time someone posts a\u00a0\u201cselfless selfie\u201d while wearing the foundation\u2019s t-shirt.<\/p>\n
So far, Kors has donated more than 10 million meals \u2014 and now, with Hudson\u2019s help, he\u2019s aiming to make that number even higher.<\/p>\n
This isn\u2019t Hudson\u2019s first brush with philanthropy. She\u2019s also helped raise funds and awareness for Healthy Child Healthy World and the Red Cross, among others.<\/p>\n
Said Hudson, \u201cAs a mother, I can\u2019t think of anything more important than raising a healthy and educated generation of children, and WFP\u2019s School Meals Program is committed to exactly that. This is a cause that I\u2019m eager to be a part of because I believe we can all make a real and significant difference.”<\/p>\n
First on her and Kors\u2019s agenda? Further promoting the Watch Hunger Stop campaign with the release of\u00a0two limited-edition styles of the Michael Kors Bradshaw watch(as worn by Hudson and Kors, above) in October \u2014\u00a0the sales of which will also provide food to needy kids the world over.<\/p>\n
Throughout the month, shoppers will additionally be able to donate money to to WFP at the register.<\/p>\n
