{"id":138111,"date":"2015-07-27T16:52:09","date_gmt":"2015-07-27T16:52:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=138111"},"modified":"2015-07-27T21:15:35","modified_gmt":"2015-07-27T21:15:35","slug":"court-throws-out-kejetia-traders-injunction-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/07\/court-throws-out-kejetia-traders-injunction-case\/","title":{"rendered":"Court throws out Kejetia traders&#8217; injunction case\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A Kumasi Human Rights Court has thrown out an injunction case filed by the Petty Traders Association of Kejetia against the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) in the Ashanti Region.<\/p>\n<p>The traders prayed the court to place an injunction on the KMA and its Chief Executive Kojo Bonsu from continuing with the demolition exercise meant to pave way for the commencement of the redevelopment of the Kumasi Kejetia Terminal.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;ZoxKcriMi4LUn7gYNrYcN4Ofhuo16Sub&#8221;]There has been confusion in Kumasi between the traders and the KMA over plans to reconstruct the Kumasi Central Market.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Citi News<\/strong>\u2019 Hawa Iddrisu who was in court, reported that the sitting judge, Justice Paul Richson threw out the injunction after listening to both counsel.<\/p>\n<p>He promised that on Wednesday July 29<span style=\"font-size: 13.3333330154419px; line-height: 20px;\">,\u00a0<\/span>2015, he will give his reasons for throwing out the injunction.<\/p>\n<p>Counsel for the KMA, Lawyer Nsiah Asare\u00a0said:\u00a0\u201cWe took a preliminary objection because we thought that certain things needed to be done before commencing this action.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Mayor of Kumasi, Kojo Bonsu said, \u201cI wouldn\u2019t say the word, \u2018congratulations.\u2019 I think it\u2019s a win for democracy and is a development.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He further stated that he did not want to make hasty decisions but, \u201cit is a win for all of us and we are looking forward for a better development for Kumasi.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the Kumasi High Court had granted an injunction application to the Kejetia Traders Association barring the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) and prevented the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kojo Bonsu from embarking on any further activities at the Kejetia Market.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Selassie A.
