Tributes have begun pouring in following the death of the First Vice President of the Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) Dr. Prosper Adabla.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”nnBafHEZFKTpYygpeXBBU9E7OMPj4nlF”]Dr. Prosper Adabla died last Saturday afternoon July 25, 2015 after his three story building which he was putting up around cantonments in Accra collapsed on him.<\/p>\n
He together with two others died after an uncompleted \u00a0three-storey building caved in on 22 people injuring more than a dozen people.<\/p>\n
Twelve survivors have been treated and discharged whilst seven others are receiving treatment at the 37 and police hospitals.<\/p>\n
Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire service, Prince Billy Ana-Glatey told Citi Business News on Sunday that twelve of the survivors had been treated and discharged while seven (7) others were receiving treatment at the 37 and police hospitals.<\/p>\n
The news of his death shocked many in the private sector and business world due to his prominence in those fields.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Citi Business News Chief Executive Officer of the Private Enterprise Federation (PEF) Nana Osei Bonsu described Dr. Prosper Adabla as a principled man.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy statement about him is that he called it as he saw it, no compromises of who was listening or who will get to know, if he believed strongly in that he stood by it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) has told Citi Business News the private sector has lost a gem.<\/p>\n
Chief Executive Officer of AGI Seth Twum Akwaboah told Citi Business News ‘\u201chis absence will be dearly missed, he has contributed so much to the business community so his sudden demise is an unfortunate development and we are also sudden by the situation. We express condolence to the family and the kids and especially to the chamber where he was the vice president.\u201d<\/p>\n
Chief Executive Officer of AGI Seth Twum Akwaboah also ‘prayed that the good Lord would console the family and all those who have lost a man of principle and good heart who believed in the business community thriving even in these difficult times’.<\/p>\n

Citi Business News sources say the council of the Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry will today 27th July, 2014 visit the family of Dr Prosper Adabla to be followed with a press briefing.<\/p>\n
Dr. Prosper Adabla was the 1st Vice President for the Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry and served as the first African board member of the National Black Chamber of Commerce in the US.<\/p>\n
He is an industrialist, a financial consultant and businessman.<\/p>\n
He was a member of the committee that worked on the feasibility studies for the establishment of a Ghana Import and Export Bank, Exim.<\/p>\n
He worked on Wall Street for 15 years serving as a Director for Continental Insurance Company, Vice President for American International Group, Lehman Brothers and Credit Suisse First Boston.<\/p>\n
He is the founder and CEO of New Capital Holdings Ltd a\u00a0 Holding Company with a number of Subsidiaries involved in Import & Export, Manufacturing, Financial Services, Lobbying and Political Mediation, Economic Research, Business Advisory and IT Services.<\/p>\n
Dr. Prosper Adabla holds a BA. in Business Admin & Journalism from the City University of New York (Baruch College), a CPCU from the college of Insurance NY, and a JD from Rutgers University School of Law in New Jersey.<\/p>\n
He is an old student of Kumasi High School.<\/p>\n
Dr. Prosper Adabla featured prominently on Citi Business news bulletins, his last interview with Citi Business News was on July 1, 2015 when called on government to defer the recent increment in utility tariff to early 2016 since the increment will compound the problems the business leaders face and cripple the private sector.<\/p>\n
