{"id":136681,"date":"2015-07-23T05:45:34","date_gmt":"2015-07-23T05:45:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=136681"},"modified":"2015-07-23T05:49:56","modified_gmt":"2015-07-23T05:49:56","slug":"northern-regions-development-cash-spent-on-conflict-prevention-minister","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/07\/northern-regions-development-cash-spent-on-conflict-prevention-minister\/","title":{"rendered":"Northern Region\u2019s development cash spent on conflict prevention &#8211; Minister"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna has revealed that a chunk of the region\u2019s budgetary allocation is used for conflict prevention and peace management.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;QHqtjf5dhBU2mfZeTBLVybIyawEb6A5O&#8221;]Dagbon, Bimbila and Bunkprugu\/Yunyoo are the identified hotspots in the region where recurrent communal and chieftaincy clashes have kept security operatives always busy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna in a <strong>Citi News<\/strong> interview bemoaned the situation and emphasized the need for peaceful co-existence in the troubled areas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He tasked members of the clergy to deepen their prayers for the restoration of peace in the conflict zones.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He maintained that chieftaincy, land and other related conflicts continued to halt the region\u2019s transformational agenda.<br \/>\n.<br \/>\n\u201cI have always been talking and yearning for peace for Northern Region: we should take this opportunity to co-exist and make sure that we live in a peaceful environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He lamented, \u201cAs I always say peace is not a commodity that can be bought from the market: we have to create that peaceful environment so I am urging everybody to understand and like each other.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWhenever there is that likeness there will be unity and when there is unity there will peace and when there is peace there will be development,\u201d the minister observed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna nonetheless commended Muslim Clerics in the region for their civil conduct throughout the Ramadan period.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI want to thank all the ulamah and the Muslim Clerics in northern region for letting us have a very peaceful Ramadan: I want to urge them to desist or run away from business as usual because there is this tendency, the moment the Ramadan passes people get back to their old deeds.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He encouraged religious bodies in the region to actively participate in government\u2019s development agenda.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He also implored members of the clergy to help government combat moral decadence associated with the youth.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By: Abdul Karim Naatogmah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna has revealed that a chunk of the region\u2019s budgetary allocation is used for conflict prevention and peace management.
