{"id":136010,"date":"2015-07-20T07:45:24","date_gmt":"2015-07-20T07:45:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=136010"},"modified":"2015-07-20T10:08:49","modified_gmt":"2015-07-20T10:08:49","slug":"funeral-rites-of-late-yaa-naas-set-for-november","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/07\/funeral-rites-of-late-yaa-naas-set-for-november\/","title":{"rendered":"Funeral rites of late Yaa-Naas set for November"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1437374004339_5571\" class=\"yiv7384656962MsoNormal\">Government has hinted the final funeral rites of the late two overlords of Dagbon will be performed in November this year.<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1437374004339_5528\" class=\"yiv7384656962MsoNormal\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1437374004339_5558\">The Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna told <strong>Citi News<\/strong>\u00a0in an interview.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1437374004339_5576\" class=\"yiv7384656962MsoNormal\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1437374004339_5575\">According him, all is set for the upcoming traditional events in Yendi, traditional capital of Dagbon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1437374004339_5578\" class=\"yiv7384656962MsoNormal\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1437374004339_5577\">He said the Asantehene-led committe of three eminent chiefs, mediating the Dagbon chieftaincy crisis, gave government the green light to implement the roadmap.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv7384656962MsoNormal\"><strong>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;kvtAn8eJMORD6dxGR12ozjan85PKb3Ov&#8221;]Citi News<\/strong> checks in Yendi have also revealed that the construction of some adjoining\u00a0houses to the old Gbewaa Palace is 90% complete.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv7384656962MsoNormal\">The Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna also revealed the funeral rites will be performed at the old Gbewaa Palace.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv7384656962MsoNormal\">\u201cWe believe that we can never get to the bottom of this matter if the funerals are not performed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv7384656962MsoNormal\">He commended the two families for their tolerance and maximum cooperation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv7384656962MsoNormal\">\u201cThe two families are really cooperating with us and as we speak now they have requested that certain things must be put in place before the funerals can be performed: if you go to Yendi you will realize we are building some palaces and this was the request from the two families and as we speak they are almost finishing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv7384656962MsoNormal\">Alhaji Limuna reiterated government\u2019s commitment to permanently resolve the age long impasse between the Abudu and Andani Royals in Dagbon.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv7384656962MsoNormal\">\u201cWhen we finish that, the next thing is to request for each family\u2019s time table and we will start with the Abudu family:\u00a0 they will give us their time table as to how they want to perform the funeral and government is committed to still support them in whatever way so that they can perform the funeral of the late Yaa-Naa Mahamadu.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv7384656962MsoNormal\">\u201cWhen they finish that I believe the custodians will now decide where to place their Regent and that one they have taken it in good faith and they are all cooperating for us to get there.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv7384656962MsoNormal\">\u201cAfter that we will move to the next point which is having the time table of the late Yaa-Naa Yakubu too so that his funeral will also be performed and same will be done to the Regent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1437374004339_5582\" class=\"yiv7384656962MsoNormal\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1437374004339_5581\">According to him, when these rites are performed, it will pave way for the selection of the Yaa- Naa, which will be left to the custodians because according to him, &#8220;&#8230; it is custom that declares a Yaa-Naa, is not an appointment neither a nomination.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv7384656962MsoNormal\">&#8211;<\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1437374004339_5580\" class=\"yiv7384656962MsoNormal\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1437374004339_5579\">By: Abdul Karim Naatogmah\/Citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Government has hinted the final funeral rites of the late two overlords of Dagbon will be performed in November this year.
