Ghana will soon collaborate with Italian Agro-processing\u00a0Companies for technological assistance to help boost food production and processing in Ghana.<\/p>\n

President John Mahama who made this known said the collaboration will be beneficial because local industries will be able to tap into the technological know-how of Italian Agro-processing\u00a0Companies.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press on Saturday after visiting some agro-processing\u00a0companies in Parma, Italy, the President indicated that despite the abundance of both human and natural resources, Ghana has been unable to make headway in agro-processing.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen it comes to agriculture and agro-processing, we have very fertile land, we have beautiful sunshine and we have a lot of water and so what we need is technology and knowhow,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He pointed out that Ghana has factories, the farmers and the research institutions but all that is left if for them to coordinate better to achieve common objective of processing food.<\/p>\n

According to him, Parma, like Ghana has \u201cthousands of farmers and they have the processing centers and they have the university that does the research in terms of pests, in terms of good seeds, the best practices they must use to increase production and so on.\u201d<\/p>\n

This, he said is what informed his government\u2019s decision to partner companies in Parma that have years of experience in agricultural processing and agricultural production.<\/p>\n

President Mahama was certain that the partnership will be \u201ca win-win situation for all of us and that is why we decided to visit Parma.\u201d<\/p>\n
