The Ministry for Local Government and Rural Development has hinted that the ministry has laid before government a by-law to make National Sanitation Day compulsory.<\/p>\n

The Ministry in 2014\u00a0introduced the clean up exercise which takes place on the first Saturday of every month.<\/p>\n
The exercise was instituted to ensure that communities were kept clean.<\/p>\n
According to the first deputy minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, the lack of appreciation for the cleanup exercise by Ghanaians is the reason for the decision.<\/p>\n
