An Accra Circuit Court\u00a0on Wednesday sentenced a driver, Daniel Quartey to five years imprisonment on charges of threat of death, causing unlawful damage and harm.<\/p>\n
Quartey was said to have struck his wife with an iron bar, pulled down her shop and threatened to kill her with a knife if she did not stop\u00a0conducting church service in their house at Amasaman.<\/p>\n
Quartey was found guilty on the three charges and sentenced to five years imprisonment by the court presided over by Mrs Rita Agyeman Budu.<\/p>\n

Prosecution said the complainant has been holding church services in the house and Quartey was not happy about it and threatened to eject her from the house.<\/p>\n
In February this year, Quartey picked up a knife and threatened to kill the wife if she does not leave her matrimonial home.<\/p>\n
The matter was reported to Quartey\u2019s family members but they were unable to resolve it.
\nOn May 17, this year, at about 13:00 hours, soon after her church activities was over, Quartey began demolishing\u00a0 a store\u00a0built in front of the house by the complainant.<\/p>\n
When the complainant asked Quartey\u00a0why he was demolishing the store, he got angry,\u00a0beat her up and struck her right ankle with an iron rod leading to the complainant suffering a fracture on the ankle.<\/p>\n
Prosecution said the complainant was rushed to the 37 Military Hospital and a report was later made to the Police and Quartey was arrested.
