A middle-aged man is feared dead after he was trapped under a collapsed bridge at Ashalaja in the Ga South Municipality in Accra.<\/p>\n
The bridge, which connects Ayikai Doboro, Ashalaja and its environs collapsed last night after a tipper truck loaded with gravels used it.<\/p>\n
A driver of the commercial vehicle and a man believed to be his conductor were trapped under the bridge.<\/p>\n
The driver and his assistant\u00a0were later rescued but the mate was brought out lifeless.<\/p>\n
<\/a><\/p>\n The Municipal Chief Executive of the Ga South Municipal Assembly, Nii Akwei Thompson in an interview with Citi News<\/strong> attributed the cause of the collapsed bridge to activities of tipper truck drivers in the area.<\/p>\n He said incessant sand winning in the area had exposed the bridge, adding that tipper truck operators were cautioned not to use it but they ignored.<\/p>\n
