The two major political parties in Ghana will today [Sunday] round up their campaigns with two big rallies to canvass for votes ahead of the much anticipated July 7 by-election.<\/p>\n
Party bigwigs in both the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the main opposition, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are presently in the constituency to campaign for their respective candidates.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”ljg3ruqfP2Tp2PFaaxSIYQNToZFM32T5″]Citi News\u2019<\/strong> Upper East Regional correspondent, Fredrick Awuni reported that President John Mahama is billed to address the NDC\u2019s rally, while the NPP rally will be addressed by the party\u2019s 2016 flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo.<\/p>\n Early on, there was a misunderstanding between the two parties over the choice of venue for the two major rallies.<\/p>\n Both the NDC and the NPP had applied to use the the Catholic Park in Tongo on Sunday but according to the NPP, they were the first party to apply for the said venue on June 30, 2015.<\/p>\n The Police however insisted that they received the NDC\u2019s application first on June 19, 2015.<\/p>\n The Police therefore granted the NDC the permission to organise their rally at the Tongo Catholic Park.<\/p>\n
