The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has denied reports that it has been consulting a spiritualist ahead of the by-election in Talensi.

Pictures of party executives bare-chested in Talensi have flooded social media with many accusing the NPP of dealing in “juju.”

Speaking to Citi News however, Musah Superior who is with the NPP Campaign Team in Telensi rubbished the claims saying, “we have not consulted any shrine, we do not intend to consult any shrine.”

He explained that as part of their campaign in Talensi, they “visited the spiritual chief of the Tongo Traditional Area” adding that “there are prescribed rules to follow if you want to visit the chief.”

[contextly_sidebar id=”3GaHxOB9DSfXGp6FyBZO10cUSYPb9C25″]“If you want to visit the chief, you have to take off your top dress before you will be allowed in. There is nobody who has visited the chief with his top dress on him,” he insisted.

Musah Superior further accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of putting a spin on the matter and are circulating pictures to portray the NPP in a negative way.

“I think that the NDC is getting confused. They are under pressure, they are panicking, and therefore every strategy that will be deployed to disrupt our campaign they would… These pictures are out there and the NDC have exploited it and they are all over the place trying to do their negative propaganda to undermine our focus. We don’t accept their propaganda,” he stressed.

Musah Superior was however optimistic that the NPP will retain the Talensi seat.

He said, “our campaign reception has been fantastic. You can see that the response and body language of the people shows that this is the time to associate themselves with the NPP.”

He further noted that the Presidential Candidate for the NPP in the 2016 election, Nana Akufo Addo is in the constituency to campaign for the party’s candidate, Thomas Duanab Wuni.

As I speak Nana Addo is here, and is leading a powerful team in Talensi and we are articulating our position to the people. What we stand for, what our candidate stands and what the NDC as a political party haven’t done for them. We are confident that we are going to win and improve on the margin we had in the last election,” he added.
