The Ashanti Region has recorded seven confirmed cases of cholera.<\/p>\n

The cases were recorded in Kumasi, Bekwai Municipal and Ahafo Ano South.<\/p>\n

This was revealed by the Deputy Regional Health Director in charge of Public Health in the region, Dr. Joseph Oduro.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”Hxh88vSOIHvWZ5iHXSE6am1uSRtk2K3A”]According to him, all the seven infected persons have been treated and discharged.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Citi News<\/strong>, Dr. Oduro maintained that the situation is under control and there is no cause for alarm.<\/p>\n

To avert the widespread of the disease, the Ashanti Regional Health Directorate has issued alert letters to all District Health Directors to inform their staff on the outbreak of the disease.<\/p>\n

The letters are also to direct all District Health Directorates to begin public education about the cholera outbreak, as well as gather the necessary logistics to help them contain the disease.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are not just sitting down doing nothing. What we have done so far is we have sent alert letters to all the District Health Directors for them to inform their staff to start education within their respective communities and also to prepare in terms of drugs and other logistics so that in case they record any cholera cases, it can be dealt with so we are doing a lot of education in the communities,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

With the onset of the rains which has seen many communities being flooded, the Ghana Health Service has issued a cholera alert<\/a><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Ministry of Health visited major health centers within the Greater Accra Region to assess the readiness<\/a><\/strong> <\/span>of these facilities to attend to the health needs of cholera patients.<\/p>\n

So far, five cholera cases<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>have been confirmed in Accra but in the Western Region, two persons have been killed<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>and 23 others have been infected.<\/p>\n
