I\u2019ve tasked the committee to work day and night and to report back and see some of the financial implications of those issues for the consideration of the Minister of Finance within the context of our public sector single spine pay policy and other sisues related to the health sector.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;Ja1uqwNi9pO1LmY5rovEpi6UqVHxJPv5&#8243;]\u201cLet me assure them that it will part of President Mahama\u2019s legacy within the social sector to bequith to health service workers, a dedicated, negotiated, formalized and concluded conditions of service,\u201d he said on <strong>Eyewitness News<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>After an emergency general assembly meeting on Monday, the public sector doctors agreed to give government a <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/06\/29\/doctors-extend-mass-resignation-threat-to-july-29\/#sthash.HnjWXWGc.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\">one month grace period<\/a><\/strong><\/span> to conclude negotiations on their conditions of service and put together a working document.<\/p>\n<p>The doctors were scheduled to resign on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 following government\u2019s failure to meet their demands.<\/p>\n<p>They have now set July 29 as the new deadline and have since warned that failure to meet this p deadline will see the gradual withdrawal of service throughout the month of August.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sigh of relief<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Haruna Iddrisu stated that government and the nation as a whole can now heave a sigh of relief following the new deadline.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTheir decision is welcome and I am sure all citizens and government can breathe a sigh of relief,\u201d acknowledging that if the doctors had gone through with their June 30 deadline, there would have been dire consequences.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/doctors.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-106971 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/doctors.jpg\" alt=\"doctors\" width=\"600\" height=\"330\" srcset=\"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/doctors.jpg 600w, https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/doctors-300x165.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Minister commended the leadership of the GMA for the gesture and gave the asusrnace that government will reciprocate \u201cby working assiduously with them through the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission [FWSC] and other technical partners from the Ministry of Finance, the public service and others who are looking into the conditions of service.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Employment Minister however clarified that the conditions of service which is currently being worked on is for all health workers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are hopeful, confident and optimistic that we will be able to clinch a deal,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By: Efua Idan Osam\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<br \/>\n<a class=\"twitter-follow-button\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/osamidan\" data-show-count=\"false\">Follow @ osamidan<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Government has promised to institute conditions of service for doctors as one of the main legacies of President John Mahama.
