The Bureau for Internal Affairs (BIA) is calling on President John Mahama, to terminate the appointment of appointees, who are pursuing further studies at the detriment of their work.<\/p>\n
A statement signed by the Director of Research and Monitoring at the BIA, Yakubu Abdul-Jalil, said Ghana\u2019s economy has reached a critical point which needs all hands on the deck to solve its many challenges.<\/p>\n
[contextly_sidebar id=”b6ELoYVwgrQ6sMZ6PwaSbqF3pScgSLzK”]The statement thus suggested that people in key government positions who are currently pursuing various degree courses must be sacked because their attention is divided between school and their official duties.<\/p>\n
The BIA argued that this practice will affect punctuality to work as a result of other engagements and low productivity.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs an anti-corruption organisation we are not against any Ghanaian who seeks to build his or capacity but our concern is the nature of the engagement which contravenes the national interest.”<\/p>\n
It pointed out that “these officials receive salaries at the end of the month despite their absence at work.\u201d<\/p>\n
The BIA suggested that in order to build a robust economy, \u201cour outfit [BIA] sees the urgency attached to our call to the\u00a0 President in terminating the appointment of \u2018student appointees\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
