The Convention People\u2019s Party (CPP) has thrown its weight behind the People\u2019s National Convention\u2019s (PNC) parliamentary candidate for Talensi, Dr. Michael Wombeago.<\/p>\n

This forms part of attempts by the leadership of the two parties to contest elections with a united front, after several months of merger talks.<\/p>\n

The CPP and the PNC in 2014 began talks to merge the two Nkrumahist parties<\/strong><\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Chairperson of the CPP, Samia Nkrumah speaking at Talensi openly urged the people to vote massively for PNC’s parliamentary candidate,\u00a0Dr. Wombeago.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is somebody who is going to serve you with honesty. He is a follower of Kwame Nkrumah. He is somebody who wants to emulate our first President Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Samia added that the people of Talensi need someone \u201cwho can give with honesty, someone who can serve, someone who has a vision for development for the constituency.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCome the 7th<\/sup> of July, I want you to do the right thing; I want you to have the courage and come in your numbers and vote for Dr Wombeago because this time is for us,\u201d she urged.<\/p>\n

The Electoral Commission has set July 7, to hold a bye-election in Talensi following the elevation of the Member of Parliament for the area, Robert Mosore to the position of a paramount chief for the Tongo Traditional area.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) held their parliamentary primaries last week to elect candidates to represent them.<\/p>\n

After the primaries the NPP Thomas Duanab Wuni<\/strong><\/a><\/span> while the (NDC) selected B.T Baba<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n
