The Electoral Commission (EC) has suspended the New Patriotic Party primaries in the Sefwi Akontombra constituency in the Western Region for the second consecutive time, after a former constituency secretary filed an application in court.<\/p>\n
Despite the clearance from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the EC\u00a0has said it cannot supervise the election since the matter is in court.<\/p>\n

Confirming the suspension to Citi News<\/strong>, the 1st Vice Chairman of the Akontombra constituency Kwabena Atakora narrated that \u201ca former secretary of the constituency has taken the elections to the Sefwi Wiawso High Court claiming that his contender Alex Tetteh has not paid his filing fees. But as a matter of fact he has paid everything and all documents have been forwarded to the regional office.\u201d<\/p>\n He said \u201cuntil the Sefwi Wiawso High Court pronounces its judgment on the matter on Thursday July 3, the elections cannot be held today.\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile the constituencyj’s Communications Officer, Harry Addo told Citi News\u00a0<\/strong>that\u00a0\u201cthere is growing confusion and tension at the constituency office as some frustrated delegates are threatening to break the constituency office and destroy and constitution.\u201d<\/p>\n He said \u201cover 200 out of the 391 constituency executives have travelled from far and near to vote only to be told the elections have been suspended.\u201d<\/p>\n He threatened that following the suspension, \u201cconstituency executives will declare our favorite Alex Tetteh the winner by Monday if the national steering committee does not ensure the elections are held today.<\/p>\n We will start pasting photos of Alex Tetteh and Nana Akuffo Addo in the constituency by Monday and that will be the way the national executives will have to take it.<\/p>\n He concluded that \u201cwe are calling on Nana Addo, the national executives, the former president Mr. Kuffour and the regional executives to call Frederick Coffie and his men to order to avoid party members moving to other parties.\u201d<\/p>\n –<\/p>\n By Obrempong Yaw Ampofo\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The Electoral Commission (EC) has suspended the New Patriotic Party primaries in the Sefwi Akontombra constituency in the Western Region for the second consecutive time, after a former constituency secretary filed an application in court.
