{"id":125082,"date":"2015-06-15T16:00:08","date_gmt":"2015-06-15T16:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=125082"},"modified":"2015-06-15T17:42:14","modified_gmt":"2015-06-15T17:42:14","slug":"govt-releases-ghc-501-500-for-medical-bills-of-flood-fire-victims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/06\/govt-releases-ghc-501-500-for-medical-bills-of-flood-fire-victims\/","title":{"rendered":"Gov&#8217;t releases GHC 501, 500 for medical bills of flood, fire victims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Government has released GHC 501, 500 as the initial payment for the medical bills of those who were affected \u00a0by the flood and the GOIL fire.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, the Vice President announced that government will <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/06\/08\/govt-to-absorb-medical-bills-of-flood-fire-victims-veep\/#sthash.MD7PeuAK.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>absolve the medical bills<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>of all the persons who sustained injuries in the June 3 Accra floods and the fire at the Goil fuel station at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;4IKms9dFh0AQxjHyPKGtUVhTEQw7quyO&#8221;]The money is to help the victims receive quality medical care to facilitate their recovery.<\/p>\n<p>Hospitals that will benefit from this package include the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, 37 Military hospital, the Police Hospital and the Ridge Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to<strong> Citi News<\/strong>, the Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Victor Bampoe said: \u201cGovernment pledged that the hospital bills will be paid and this has now been fulfilled.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He disclosed that the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) last Friday released a cheque of to GHC 5, 150 to three facilities \u2013 Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Ridge Hospital and the Police Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>This, the Deputy Minister said is \u201cthe partial fulfillment of the President\u2019s pledge to take care of the hospital bills of out-patients and in-patients who have suffered in that unfortunate incident.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the Ministry carried out an evaluation which looked at the severity of the burns and other injuries the victims suffered as well as how much funding will be required for each patient in relation to their stay in the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>The Deputy Minister pledged that more funds will be released for the care of the victims if the need arises.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis money is the first tranche of funds that have been given to the facilities to pay the bill that they have accrued and if there is any subsequent funding required, it will also be provided.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the funds, the government has presented <a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/06\/13\/government-presents-medical-items-to-3-hospitals\/#sthash.kBademUd.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong>over 2.5 tonnes of medical supplies<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, the 37 Military Hospital and the Ghana Police Hospital to support the treatment of persons with injuries.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Efua Idan Osam\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<br \/>\n<a class=\"twitter-follow-button\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/osamidan\" data-show-count=\"false\">Follow @ osamidan<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Government has released GHC 501, 500 as the initial payment for the medical bills of those who were affected \u00a0by the flood and the GOIL fire.
