George Andah has been elected the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary candidate for the Awutu Senya West constituency in the Central Region.<\/p>\n

Andah will face the incumbent MP for the area, the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Hanna Tetteh if she is retained by her party to contest the 2016 elections.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”SaJfDMRLsf0pQVd9NXwpFzDBVgdpe2ZA”]The former\u00a0Chief Marketing Officer at MTN polled 282 representing more that 50 percent of the total votes cast.<\/p>\n

On the eve of the elections, Andah on Eyewitness News<\/strong> predicted<\/a><\/strong> <\/span>that he will secure over 50 percent of the votes in the primaries.<\/p>\n

The former MP for the constituency,\u00a0Oppey Abbey stepped down<\/a><\/strong><\/span> and threw his weight behind Andah in the lead up to the elections.<\/p>\n

He explained that his decision not to contest in the 2014 primaries was “premised on the fact that having interacted and engaged with him and the delegates, I know he has the goodwill of the delegates and has consistently displayed the right leadership qualities needed to wrestle the seat from the NDC and improve the fortunes of our nation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Oppey Abbey was defeated in the 2012 general elections by NDC’s Hanna Tetteh.<\/p>\n

The party’s flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo in a tweet congratulated George Andah and welcomed him on board.<\/p>\n
