President John Mahama on Friday inspected the\u00a0dredging of the Korle Lagoon at Korle Gonno in Accra.<\/p>\n
The dredging is a collaboration between the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) and the Ministry of Roads and Highways.<\/p>\n
<\/a><\/p>\n The exercise commenced following the June 3 floods which wrecked havoc in the capital and led to the loss of over 160 lives.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n The President admitted that the inability of governments to\u00a0complete the dredging of the lagoon has over the years contributed to the flooding of the city.<\/p>\n <\/a><\/p>\n In all, 13 excavators and 29 trucks are engaged in the dredging of the lagoon.<\/p>\n
