Several areas in Accra experienced forced power outages after the floods that submerged Accra on Wednesday, affected the Achimota sub-station.

The floods, apart from forcing an emergency power cut, also destroyed several properties and valuables worth millions of Cedis.

The traffic situation also worsened on some major roads, and fast flowing rainwater also impeded vehicular movement.

A statement released by the Communications Ministry said personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces, the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana National Fire Service and the National Disaster Management Organisation were deployed to intervene and provide emergency services to affected persons.

The statement also adviced the public to avoid fast moving rainwater, and areas they know have big drains.
