{"id":121885,"date":"2015-06-03T22:30:38","date_gmt":"2015-06-03T22:30:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=121885"},"modified":"2015-06-04T00:59:04","modified_gmt":"2015-06-04T00:59:04","slug":"floods-submerge-accra-for-the-umpteenth-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/06\/floods-submerge-accra-for-the-umpteenth-time\/","title":{"rendered":"Floods submerge Accra for the umpteenth time"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Most parts of Accra have been heavily flooded after torrential rains that lasted for hours on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Reports reaching Citi News indicate that valuable property including buildings and vehicles have virtually been submerged by the floods in some areas.<\/p>\n<p>The floods have rendered many roads almost impassable causing heavy vehicular traffic in most parts of the city.<\/p>\n<p>Large parts of the Kwame Nkrumah circle, Old Fadama, Ofankor, Bubuashie, GREDA estate, Kaneshie First Light, Mallam Junction, Tetteh Quarshie roundabout, Teshie Nungua and Tesano are heavily flooded.<\/p>\n<p>Sections of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital was also flooded a situation that has grounded the elevator of the hospital.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/thumb_IMG_0254_1024.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-121891 \" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/thumb_IMG_0254_1024-e1433377692903.jpg\" alt=\"thumb_IMG_0254_1024\" width=\"412\" height=\"549\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Citi News<\/strong> also understands that the arrival lounge of the Kotoka International Airport has also been flooded leaving passengers stranded.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/thumb_IMG_0268_1024-e1433378007897.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-121897\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/thumb_IMG_0268_1024-e1433378007897.jpg\" alt=\"thumb_IMG_0268_1024\" width=\"650\" height=\"488\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/thumb_IMG_0267_1024-e1433377980587.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-121895\" src=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/06\/thumb_IMG_0267_1024-e1433377980587.jpg\" alt=\"thumb_IMG_0267_1024\" width=\"650\" height=\"488\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile Greater Accra Regional minister Nii Laryea Afotey-Agbo says the regional security committee has already deployed a joint police-military force to provide assistance in one area or the other.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Stay away from the airport bypass.
