The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has formally announced that the date for their Parliamentary primaries will not be changed despite mounting pressure from some members of the party.<\/p>\n

According to them, the Parliamentary primaries will come off on 13th June 2015 as scheduled.<\/p>\n

[contextly_sidebar id=”qyL7tN8yfIT9lhRNGumcdilBZGAnqsOr”]Some groups and party supporters have pleaded for the date to be postponed<\/a><\/strong><\/span> following some setbacks during the vetting processes and the current crisis which is threatening to break the party.<\/p>\n

The disqualification of some aspirants caused some confusion in the party<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n

A statement signed by the party\u2019s General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong however said \u201cAll are to note that no decision has been made to postpone the Primaries.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the statement, preparations for the elections are far advanced except in the following Constituencies where requests for postponement have been granted, upon application by the Regional Executives:<\/p>\n

Bia East, Bia West, Juaboso, Akontombra \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Western<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Nadowli-Kaleo\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 –\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Upper East<\/p>\n

The party further stated that Parliamentary primaries in the Klottey Korle, Obom-Domeabra and Akrofuom constituencies have also been put on hold, pending the determination of cases referred to the National Appeals Committee.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Electoral Commission is currently printing the Notices of Poll and the Ballot Papers for the Primaries.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cConstituency Election Committees are to liaise with the District Directors of the Electoral Commission for the selection of appropriate Venues for the Primaries, \u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n

The NPP’s\u00a0National Organizer John Boadu had earlier wrote to the EC, notifying it of the party\u2019s impending Parliamentary primaries.<\/p>\n

But\u00a0National Chairman of the NPP, Paul Afoko told\u00a0the Electoral Commission (EC), to disregard any correspondence from the party<\/a><\/strong><\/span> which does not bear his signature or that of the General Secretary Kwabena Agyapong.<\/p>\n

Paul Afoko in a statement stressed that \u201cthe only authorized signatories to any official communication to the commission\u201d are himself, \u201cthe National Chairman and the General Secretary.\u201d<\/p>\n
