The Forum for former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament, Ashanti Region, has appealed to the party\u2019s hierarchy to reconsider extending the date for the party\u2019s parliamentary primaries scheduled for June 13.<\/p>\n

In our opinion, the NPP hierarchy should rather engage itself in deep sober reflection in the happenings within the party.\u201d<\/p>\n
A statement signed by Mr Alex Kwaku Korankye, Secretary and Coordinator of the Forum and copied to Ghana News Agency, Kumasi, over the weekend cited the fact that the regional reports of the vetting of the parliamentary aspirants, which were sent to the National Secretariat of the NPP, are yet to be made public.<\/p>\n
It expressed shock at the recent gruesome murder of the Upper East Regional Chairman of the party, Alhaji Adams Mahama, and extended the Forum\u2019s deepest condolences to the bereaved family.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis criminal act has indeed brought in its wake cacophony of noises within and outside the party\u201d, the statement noted, calling for peace to prevail.<\/p>\n
\u201cPolitical watchers and analysts and indeed many other observers and commentators will say that all is not well within the NPP. To them, things are really falling apart and the centre is no longer holding.\u201d The statement called on party faithful to bury their differences and work hard to foster unity since \u201cthe crisis facing the NPP is surmountable\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is the time all NPP members and supporters should stop attacking, maligning and vilifying one another\u201d, the statement advised, and urged all well-meaning members of the party to exercise maximum restraint in dealing with \u201cthis volatile matter\u201d.<\/p>\n
The Forum is of the view that the crisis would soon be over, and \u201cthe party will once again be on track to present effective campaigning in 2016.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe cannot and should not disappoint Ghanaians in 2016,\u201d the Forum said.<\/p>\n
