{"id":119498,"date":"2015-05-27T09:03:41","date_gmt":"2015-05-27T09:03:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/?p=119498"},"modified":"2015-05-27T12:21:25","modified_gmt":"2015-05-27T12:21:25","slug":"unicof-to-protest-decision-to-maintain-adb-md","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/citifmonline.com\/2015\/05\/unicof-to-protest-decision-to-maintain-adb-md\/","title":{"rendered":"UNICOF to protest decision to maintain adb MD"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Union of Industry, Commerce and<a class=\"dlawvloebf\" title=\"Click to Continue &gt; by TheAdBlock\" href=\"#25989658\"> Finance<img src=\"http:\/\/cdncache-a.akamaihd.net\/items\/it\/img\/arrow-10x10.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a> \u00a0Workers (UNICOF) will today protest the decision by the Agricultural Development Bank (adb) to maintain the Managing Director of the bank, Mr. Kpordzih.<\/p>\n<p>[contextly_sidebar id=&#8221;XO7y0V9ThRTQ54dgVpYjU8d0hSatRknP&#8221;]Members of UNICOF signalled their intent to embark on a series of public protests against the management of the bank over alleged acts of financial misappropriation and the scheduled Initial Public Offering (IPO) of the bank\u2019s shares.<\/p>\n<p>They were however asked to suspend their\u00a0plans following a meeting with Employment and Labour Relations Minister, Haruna Iddrisu.<\/p>\n<p>The bank also agreed to <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/05\/06\/sale-of-adb-shares-suspended\/#sthash.IxeqSolt.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\">put on hold the IPO<\/a><\/strong> <\/span>which would have seen the bank offload about 100 million shares \u00a0representing 75 percent ownership of the bank to raise about GH\u00a2300 million.<\/p>\n<p>Presently, the Bank of Ghana (BoG) has <span style=\"color: #666699;\"><strong><a style=\"color: #666699;\" href=\"http:\/\/4cd.e16.myftpupload.com\/2015\/05\/07\/bank-of-ghana-to-investigate-adb\/#sthash.dmb4MmVU.algyKBHO.dpbs\" target=\"_blank\">initiated investigations<\/a><\/strong><\/span> into the allegations being\u00a0leveled against the MD and the board of governors.<\/p>\n<p>Despite moves by the BoG to investigate acts of misappropriation against the MD and board of governers, the group is still pushing for their removal.<\/p>\n<p>At a meeting held \u00a0between ADB staff and National Executives of UNICOF on Tuesday night, the former demanded an immediate strike to register their displeasure <span style=\"color: #333333;\">with the bank&#8217;s \u00a0decision to maintain Mr. Kpordzih as the Managing Director.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <strong>Citi Business News<\/strong>, the General Secretary of UNICOF John Esiape said: &#8220;We have served notice of our decision to embark on a strike&#8230; We are saying that the MD who represents management must leave&#8230; and that is going to be championed by all the institutions under UNICOF.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<\/p>\n<p>By: Marian Efe Ansah\/citifmonline.com\/Ghana<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Union of Industry, Commerce and Finance \u00a0Workers (UNICOF) will today protest the decision by the Agricultural Development Bank (adb) to maintain the Managing Director of the bank, Mr. Kpordzih.
