[contextly_sidebar id=”1cVheF5W4JxtLoKGXLaloLn5J5JBPQxn”]Mahama Adam is currently receiving treatment at the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital.

The incident happened on Wednesday night and according to Citi News‘ Frederick Awuni, they attacked the NPP Chairman “around 11pm when Adam Mahama was returning from his construction site.”

He said according to Adam Mahama’s aide, Zakariah Osman, the NPP chairman was in his car when he was stopped by two unidentified persons, and in an attempt to inquire the reason why he was stopped, they poured the substance on him.

“The two persons quickly poured some chemicals believed to be acid on the regional chairman,” he narrated.

Frederick Awuni added that the incident has been reported at the Regional Police Command.

According to Zakariah Osman, Mahama Adam has suffered several burns on his body.

But the Upper East Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Thomas Agbanyo said one of the suspect have been arrested and the other one is on the run.

He added that for security reasons the Police will not disclose the name of the one arrested until his accomplice arrested.

Meanwhile, according to the Police, the one arrested has denied perpetrating the crime.

Paul Afoko, Agyepong’s meeting truncated

Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepoong were recently in the Region for a planned meeting with some party executives but the meeting was disrupted by some party supporters.

The party’s regional chairman, Mahama Adam has been accused of masterminded the disruption because he was not informed about the meeting but he has denied the allegations and subsequently apologized.

Some party supporters in the region formed a group to protect Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong anytime they come to the area.

However, it is unclear whether the attack on Mahama Adam has anything to do with the attack on Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong in the region.
