Parliament on Thursday approved the Minister appointed for the Ashanti Region and three other Deputy Ministers.

[contextly_sidebar id=”W0FJr0W45RsHz15hyLfspxBPlRhfMVfn”]They are: Mr Peter Anarfi-Mensah, Ashanti Regional Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Yaw Adusei, Deputy Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing and Kenneth Gilbert Adjei, Deputy Minister for Defense.

They were approved through a voice vote in Parliament.

The Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh struggled to defend the inclusion of the position he held in Secondary School as work experience during his vetting.

He stated on his Curriculum Vitae (CV) that his work experience is serving as a dining hall prefect while he was at the senior secondary school.

Mr Akandoh was subsequently advised by the Appointment Committee to delete the position from his CV since it could not be considered as a work experience.

The new Ashanti Regional Minister replaces Samuel K. Sarpong, who was sacked together with his Deputy, Joseph Yammin following several agitations against them from NDC party members in the region.

Some of the NDC members claim Mr Sarpong’s action if not checked would have jeopardized the NDC’s chances of winning the 2016 elections in the region.
